Privacy

Basic principles

The use of our website is generally possible without providing personal data. The collection of any personal data (such as names, addresses, telephone numbers or email addresses) happens on a voluntary basis. This data will not be shared with third parties without your explicit permission.

We point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. when communicating via email) can have security gaps. A complete protection of data against unauthorized access by third parties is impossible.

We have published our contact data according to the German ‘Impressumspflicht’ (Telemediengesetz). The use of this contact data for sending unsolicited advertisements and information materials (spam mail) is hereby expressly prohibited.

Web analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. In case of activation of the IP anonymization, Google will truncate/anonymize the last octet of the IP address for Member States of the European Union as well as for other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases, the full IP address is sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA. On behalf of the website provider Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. Furthermore you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.

Further information concerning the terms and conditions of use and data privacy can be found at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/gb.html or at https://www.google.de/intl/en_uk/policies/.

Newsletter

We use MailChimp to send our newsletters. MailChimp is a service of The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA. This company is a member of the so-called Safe Harbor Agreement, a special data protection agreement between the European Union and the United States.

When you sign up for our newsletter, the data that you specify in the newsletter registration is transferred to MailChimp and stored there. After the registration you will receive a MailChimp email to confirm your subscription (“double opt-in”). MailChimp provides extensive analysis options about how the newsletter is opened and used. These analyzes are group-based and are not used by us for individual evaluation.

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can recall your subscription at any time. A notice in writing to the contact details mentioned in the imprint is sufficient for this purpose. Of course you will also find an unsubscribe link in each newsletter.

The privacy policy of MailChimp can be found here: http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

Social plug-ins

Our website uses social plug-ins (“plug-ins”) from different social networks. Using these plug-ins, you can for example share content, or recommend products. The plug-ins are disabled by default and therefore do not send data. With one click you can activate the plug-ins.

If these plug-ins are enabled, your browser will create a connection to the servers of the respective social network as soon as you visit a page of our website. The content of the plugin is served directly from the social network to your browser and integrated in the website. The plugins can be disabled with one click.

Because of the integration of the plug-in, the social network will receive the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. If you are logged in to the social network, it can assign your visit to your account. If you interact with the plug-ins, for example if you press the Facebook “Like” button, or if you leave a comment, the corresponding information will be transmitted directly from your browser to the social network.

For the purpose and scope of data collection and further processing and use of data by social networks as well as your rights and ways to protect your privacy, please refer to the privacy policies of the respective networks or websites. The links can be found further below.

If you do not want social networks to collect information about you via our website, you must log out from these networks before you visit our website.

Even if you are not logged on to the social networks, data can be sent to the networks from websites with active social plug-ins. Through an active plug-in a cookie is set each time you visit the website. Since your browser will send this cookie each time you connect to a network server, the network could in principle create a profile of which websites you visited. It would then also be possible to connect this profile to your account when you log on to the social network at a later point in time.

If you do not want social networks to collect information about you via active plug-ins, you can either disable the plug-ins on our website (or not activate them in the first place) or go to your browser’s settings and disallow third-parties to set cookies. However, with this setting, other features on the website may not function anymore.
